Suzhou zhuoni optical material Co.,Ltd., a leading manufacturer of polycarbonate (PC) sheets, today achieved the successful on-site installation of a custom-designed outdoor sunroom for a homestay within Suzhou Resort. The project showcases how high-performance PC  sheets combine practicality, durability, and energy efficiency for hospitality architecture.

The homestay owner sought to create an all-weather outdoor lounge that allows guests to enjoy natural light while being protected from rain, UV rays, and summer heat. Traditional glass roofs were rejected due to safety concerns (risk of shattering) and excessive thermal gain.

Solution & Material selection
Our team recommended PC solid sheet (Polycarbonate endurance sheet) of 10mm thickness in transparent tint, featuring double-sided UV co-extrusion and a hard coating for scratch resistance. Key advantages include:

• 250x impact resistance compared to glass – ideal for typhoon‑prone Jiangnan region.

• Over 88% light transmission with controlled glare.

• Thermal insulation that reduces heat build‑up by up to 30% vs. single glass.

Last week the whole installation was finished, It took a total of 5 days from the homestay owner placing the order to assembling it.We hope that after the final decoration the sunroom can bring better rest and vacation experiences to travelers and bring more profits to the owner!
